A person who wishes to deposit a will must personally go to the office of the Registrar of Inheritance Affairs in the district in which they reside. \u00a0They must bring the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n
• The original will<\/span><\/li>\n
• Their identity card<\/span><\/li>\n
• A certificate of payment showing that the required fee for depositing the will was paid according to regulations<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  In the event that the photograph in the ID card is not up-to-date, the person issuing the will must also bring an additional document that includes a current photograph (i.e., passport, driver\u2019s license, etc.). \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  The will must be deposited by the person issuing it. \u00a0It must be done by this individual, and a proxy or another person is not acceptable. \u00a0The will and its contents will then be preserved \u00a0and recorded in the National Registry, which is run by the Administrator General\u2019s division. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  Only the person who has issued the will can get back a will that has been deposited. \u00a0A person who deposited a will in the past is not allowed to deposit another one unless they first take back the will they had previously deposited. \u00a0Getting a will back after depositing it also involves a fee.<\/span><\/p>\n

  It is important to note that the Registrar of Inheritance Affairs will not give details regarding wills that are deposited while the issuer is still alive.<\/span><\/p>\n
